Juan Garbajosa is Professor at the ETSISI (Computer Systems Engineering) School, Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Spain. Since April, 2016 he holds the position of Deputy Vice Rector for Quality Systems and Competiveness. He teaches courses in Software Architecture (undergraduate), Systems Validation, Innovation for software systems, IPR for Software Ssystems, State of the Art (Software Engineering) (postgraduate). He leads the SYST Research Group at CITSEM Research Center (UPM). Past CITSEM Associate Director (2012-2015). UPM leader for the European H2020 CPSELabs project. Some European projects led in the past: METSES, XNETMOD, ESA DOBERTSEE, FLEXI, NEMO&CODED, and IMPONET. He published articles in leading journals and conferences in his area. He serves as reviewer for leading journals: IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, Information and Software Technology, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Engineering, Journal of Software: Maintenance and Evolution, Computer Standards and Interfaces, and Information Processing Letters. PC-co-Chair of XP2011, 12th Intl. Conf. on Agile Software Development. Currently, XP Steering Committee Chair (2014-). Convenor of ISO/IEC JTC1 SC7 WG20 (2002-2015)Coeditor of SWEBOK V3. EU COST ICT DC member (2009-2014), representing Spanish Government, advising on research planning and evaluation. He is Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of ACM. Before joining full time UPM (1997) he served in industry and government. Research interests: Global/agile software development, Software architecting, Cyber physical Systems (Smart grids and Smart cities), and Innovation for software intensive Systems.
